The Shed

Guess who that is? So this is where I get it from!
There’s an old saying that our past experiences shape our purposes. I am 4 years old here. Do you like my golden jumper? “Make sure you change into your shed clothes”, my Mum used to say!

We're actually making a bar skittles game and I remember that day vividly. Look how messy my Grandfather’s shed is. He gave me lots of time and personal commitment. We used to create things from seemingly nothing - scraps and off-cuts mainly.

As I spoke to a friend about my philosophy, he was struck by the connection. He said that it's no wonder that I give those people who inspire me both my personal time and personal commitment when we do their Financial Planning. Just like with my grandfather back in the day, working together with our ‘sleeves rolled up’, we craft their future starting with whatever they have and wherever they are to build a financial wall that nothing can get through. We build their Financial Road Map® and a Values-Based Financial Plan™. It's their version of a bar skittles game, a wooden farm, a wooden fort and countless other creations that came out of that little shed.

He used to say to me in his broad Somerset accent, "There's no such thing as can't, boy!" when I struggled to saw wood with the hand-saw that was bigger than me. And this Royal Marine who endured much for the duration of World War Two should know.

Anything was possible. And it still is.  Let’s do Values-Based Financial Planning™…
